Assam has inaugurated Kaziranga Heritage, a new hospitality destination set within the Kaziranga landscape, developed through a public-private partnership between the Assam Tourism Development Corporation and Centre Point Hospitality Group. The property was opened by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the presence of tourism stakeholders and government officials.
The estate sits amid the floodplains of the Brahmaputra and Kohora river systems, and has been designed to reflect both the ecological and cultural legacy of the region.
At its heart is the historic Bonani Bungalow, built in traditional Assam-type architecture with guest records dating to 1938, among the earliest documented hospitality structures associated with Kaziranga’s tourism history. The property comprises 28 rooms across several heritage-inspired structures, including river view cottages, cultural spaces dedicated to Assamese literature and Vaishnavite traditions, and presidential suites with private plunge pools.
A 48-seater restaurant anchors the culinary offering, focusing on regional Assamese cuisine prepared using traditional wood-fired cooking methods. Art is woven throughout the estate, with works by Assamese artists alongside tributes to cultural figures Bhupen Hazarika and Zubeen Garg, and archival wildlife photography from Kaziranga’s conservation history. Kaziranga has held UNESCO World Heritage status since 1985.
