Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary is set to introduce a fresh wave of eco-tourism projects, backed by a recent allocation of ₹71 crore aimed at strengthening both conservation and community livelihoods. The sanctuary will soon feature meditation camps, elevated log-house tents, and a treetop canopy walk designed to offer sweeping views of the forest.
According to Anshu Pragyan Das, Divisional Forest Officer, the initiatives are intended to draw more visitors while creating employment for forest-dependent families living in human-wildlife conflict zones. Twenty eco-friendly tents will be developed at Zero Point, alongside an expansion of homestays in nearby villages, from five to fifteen, to deepen visitor engagement with local culture.
A 300-metre canopy walk rising 100 feet above the ground will anchor the project, complemented by upgraded safari vehicles, cruise boats, and visitor facilities. A temporary glass-and-wood meditation centre and library will host nature education programmes, while a 100-km boundary barrier will help reduce conflict and protect wildlife.
