Google’s Find Hub Now Helps Airlines Track Lost Luggage

March 9, 2026

Losing luggage may soon be far less of an ordeal. Google has introduced a “Share Item Location” feature within its Find Hub app, allowing travellers to share their bag’s real-time location directly with airlines, streamlining the recovery process significantly.

Turkish Airlines is among the launch partners, now officially accepting Find Hub-generated location links as part of its baggage recovery process. Other participating carriers include Air India, China Airlines, Saudia, Scandinavian Airlines, and the full Lufthansa Group, with Qantas expected to follow.

Using the feature is straightforward: passengers open the Find Hub app on an Android device, select the missing item, and tap “Share Item Location” to generate a secure, shareable URL. This link can be submitted directly to the airline during the baggage claim process, giving ground staff a live view of the bag’s whereabouts.

Privacy remains a priority with location links expiring automatically after seven days, data being encrypted, and passengers having the option to disable sharing at any time. The feature also switches off on its own once the item is reunited with its owner. A compatible tracker tag and a participating airline are required to access the service.
