Gulf Airlines Resume Flights as Regional Airspace Reopens

March 12, 2026

Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar Airways are gradually restoring operations following airspace closures triggered by the recent conflict involving the US, Israel, and Iran, with connectivity to key markets including the UK, India, and the US slowly returning to normal.

Emirates is currently flying at roughly 60% capacity, operating 106 daily flights across 83 destinations, with a full return subject to airspace conditions. The airline is prioritising passengers with existing bookings. Etihad has resumed limited services to over 70 destinations from Abu Dhabi, with further expansion planned in the coming days. Qatar Airways, meanwhile, has launched repatriation flights from Doha to London Heathrow, Paris, Madrid, Rome, and Frankfurt, prioritising stranded travellers with urgent needs.

Beyond the Gulf’s big three, British Airways has resumed Muscat–London Heathrow services, and Finnair is operating special flights from Muscat to Helsinki. Air Arabia has launched limited flights to Austria, Egypt, India, and Italy. Several carriers, including Air France, KLM, Saudia, and Wizz Air, continue to suspend or reduce regional operations as disruptions persist.

Travellers are advised to confirm bookings directly with their airline before heading to the airport.
