The Himachal Pradesh government has announced plans to invite global bids from leading international hotel chains to operate the iconic Wildflower Hall near Mashobra, putting an end to the prolonged uncertainty surrounding the property’s management.
The decision, taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, aims to ensure the seven-star heritage hotel is managed by a reputed global brand capable of maintaining its world-class standards. The property, set amid deodar forests near Shimla, is currently being operated by the Oberoi Group on an interim basis.
A Government of India undertaking has been assigned to prepare and invite the global tenders, with the objective of attracting top hospitality players and maximising state revenue. Since regaining ownership on March 31, 2025, after a two-decade legal dispute with East India Hotels Ltd, the state government has already earned ₹425 crore in revenue from the property.
