Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced the signing of a greenfield Taj hotel in Mohali, Punjab, marking a strategic expansion of the brand in one of the state’s fastest-growing urban centres.
Commenting on the development, Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said Mohali’s rise as a prominent IT and commercial hub, along with Punjab’s growing popularity as a destination for weddings and large social events, makes it a key market for the company’s continued growth strategy.
The upcoming Taj Mohali will feature 225 rooms and offer uninterrupted views of the surrounding greenery. Planned amenities include an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, and a speciality restaurant. Guests will also have access to a comprehensive range of leisure and wellness facilities, including a swimming pool, gym, health club, and IHCL’s signature J Wellness Circle.
Designed to cater to large-scale events, the hotel will house over 26,000 square feet of banqueting space, positioning it as the largest event venue in the region. This makes it well-suited for weddings, corporate conferences, and social gatherings.
Mohali, a planned city with modern infrastructure, is home to a growing cluster of IT companies, educational institutions, and sports facilities, enhancing its appeal as a business and lifestyle destination.
With the signing of Taj Mohali, IHCL’s portfolio in Punjab expands to 14 hotels, including seven currently under development, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the state.
