In a major step to modernize its immigration process, the Bureau of Immigration (BOI) will roll out a Digital Arrival Card for foreign nationals entering India, effective 1 October 2025. The move aims to streamline entry procedures and reduce waiting times at immigration counters.
Under the new system, foreign travellers will have the option to complete their Disembarkation Card either physically upon arrival or digitally up to 72 hours before reaching India. The digital submission can be made via:
- The official Indian Visa website
- The ‘Indian Visa Su-Swagatam’ mobile app
- Scanning a QR code provided by airlines or travel partners
While the digital option is encouraged, physical forms will remain available for up to six months or until the online system is fully stabilised, whichever comes first.
Authorities have requested travel partners and tour operators to communicate the new process to arriving passengers to ensure a smooth and hassle-free immigration experience.
The introduction of the Digital Arrival Card is part of India’s broader push to digitally transform its travel and tourism infrastructure, offering convenience to visitors while enhancing efficiency at airports nationwide.
