IndiGo is set to make its debut in Scandinavia with the launch of direct flights between Mumbai and Copenhagen starting October 8. The service will operate three times a week, marking the airline’s first entry into the Nordic region and expanding its growing European network.
The route will be operated using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on a wet/damp lease from Norse Atlantic Airways, ensuring long-haul comfort and efficiency. With this addition, Copenhagen becomes IndiGo’s 44th international and 138th overall destination, further strengthening the airline’s global footprint.
“With rising demand for travel between India and Northern Europe, this new connection will serve as a key gateway to the Nordic region for Indian travellers,” said Pieter Elbers, IndiGo’s Chief Executive Officer. He added that the service would boost opportunities for trade, education, and tourism between India and Denmark.
IndiGo currently operates over 2,200 daily flights, serving more than 90 domestic and 40 international destinations. Despite some operational challenges, with 51 aircraft grounded as of September 15, the airline continues to expand aggressively, positioning itself as a leading connector between India and Europe.
