Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve in Assam has recorded a historic surge in visitors, earning it the title of India’s third most visited national park. Between October 1, 2024, and May 18, 2025, the park welcomed an impressive 443,636 tourists—a 35% increase from the previous year. Among them were over 18,000 international travelers, reflecting a 25% rise in global interest.
This boost in popularity can be attributed to several key factors. High-profile visits by dignitaries, including the Prime Minister of India, the King of Bhutan, and numerous foreign envoys, have spotlighted Kaziranga on the international stage. Infrastructure improvements such as better roads, eco-conscious lodges, and the introduction of electric safari vehicles have also enhanced the tourist experience.
Government initiatives promoting tourism, including hosting the International Tourism Mart, and offering new activities like cycling trails, boat safaris, and birdwatching in buffer zones, have diversified Kaziranga’s appeal.
Renowned for its successful conservation of the one-horned rhinoceros, Kaziranga continues to be a magnet for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. With sustainable practices at its core and a growing global reputation, Kaziranga is setting a new benchmark in responsible wildlife tourism.
