In a major development aimed at bolstering security, the Jammu & Kashmir government has declared all routes of the Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025 as ‘No Flying Zones’. This restriction, which includes both the Pahalgam and Baltal axes, will be in effect from July 1 to August 10, 2025.
As per the official order issued on June 16 by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the ban covers all aviation platforms—UAVs, drones, balloons, and helicopters. Consequently, helicopter services will not be available to pilgrims during this year’s yatra. The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) has also published this notice on its website, advising devotees to reach the holy cave on foot or use ponies and palkis.
Exceptions will be made for medical evacuations, disaster management, and security surveillance, with a detailed SOP to follow.
This move, aligned with recommendations from the Ministry of Home Affairs, underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe, smooth pilgrimage. Extensive preparations, including track upgrades, safety railings, and improved contingency plans, are underway.
With the pilgrimage scheduled from July 3 to August 9, 2025, authorities urge yatris to cooperate fully and plan their journey accordingly for a peaceful and secure yatra experience.
