Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced that Noida International Airport at Jewar will be inaugurated in January 2026. Once operational, it will become the state’s fifth international airport and a key aviation hub in northern India.
The airport is being developed as a greenfield project under a public-private partnership and is set to be India’s largest airport in terms of area and capacity. Its launch is expected to boost logistics, tourism, and investment in western Uttar Pradesh and the National Capital Region.
The inauguration marks a significant expansion in the state’s aviation infrastructure. Uttar Pradesh now has 16 functional airports, four of which hold international status, and the Jewar facility will join this list. The airport’s development runs parallel to improvements in expressways, metro networks, and interstate road connectivity, further strengthening the region’s transport ecosystem.
The first phase of Noida International Airport had faced delays, missing the original September 2024 operational target. The revised timeline reflects efforts to ensure readiness and operational efficiency before commercial launch.
