SriLankan Airlines is set to launch direct flights between Colombo and Ahmedabad within the next three months, pending regulatory approvals. The planned four weekly services would make Ahmedabad the carrier’s tenth Indian destination, bringing its total weekly flights to India to 93 across ten cities.
India is a significant market for the airline, accounting for nearly 40 per cent of its annual traffic of over four million passengers in 2025. The new route is part of a broader push to diversify its India portfolio, with the airline set to serve six of the country’s eight major metropolitan hubs once Ahmedabad flights go live. The expansion is projected to grow Indian passenger traffic across its network by up to 12 per cent this year.
Beyond new routes, SriLankan Airlines is also in discussions with Air India to deepen its existing codeshare partnership, which currently covers select routes. The airline, operating a fleet of 23 aircraft, connects its Indian cities to destinations across the Middle East, the Maldives, the Far East, Europe, and Australia through its own codeshare services.
