Uttarakhand’s Valley of Flowers Reopens for 2025 Tourist Season

June 2, 2025

The much-loved Valley of Flowers National Park in Uttarakhand has officially reopened its gates to tourists for the 2025 season, beginning June 1. Nestled in the Chamoli district at an altitude of over 9,000 feet, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is renowned for its vibrant alpine blooms, lush meadows, and breathtaking Himalayan vistas.

On opening day, dozens of trekkers made their way to witness the early season blossoms, marking the beginning of a four-month window to explore this natural wonder. Spanning 87.5 square kilometers, the valley boasts over 600 species of flowering plants, including rare Himalayan flora like the Blue Poppy and Brahma Kamal. It is also home to endangered animals such as the snow leopard, musk deer, and Himalayan black bear.

Due to previous monsoon damage, the trekking path is currently open for a limited 4–5 kilometer stretch. Temporary bridges and pathway reinforcements have been added for visitor safety. Access begins from Ghangaria, the nearest base point to the park.

The Valley of Flowers will remain open until October 31, depending on weather conditions. Nature lovers and adventure seekers are encouraged to visit during this limited period to experience one of India’s most enchanting natural spectacles in full bloom.
