Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is set to reconnect with India after a 17-year hiatus, launching a new direct route between Copenhagen and Mumbai starting June 2, 2026. The new year-round service aims to deepen economic and travel ties between India and Scandinavia, while strengthening Copenhagen’s position as a key international aviation hub.
The airline will operate five weekly flights on the route using an Airbus A330, offering seamless connections for travellers heading to or from Europe and North America.
Calling India a market of strategic importance, Anko van der Werff, President & CEO of SAS, said the move aligns with the airline’s broader growth ambitions: “Mumbai is a natural extension of our long-haul strategy, connecting Scandinavia with a region of immense economic and cultural significance.”
Flight schedules will be optimised to ensure easy onward connections to major cities such as New York, Boston, and Toronto, enhancing travel options for both business and leisure passengers.
The new route underscores SAS’s commitment to expanding its global network and tapping into high-growth markets, positioning Copenhagen as a key gateway between Northern Europe and India.
