Tourism and Fishing Activities Suspended in Godavari Region as Cyclone Montha Approaches

October 28, 2025

All tourist boat services on the Godavari River have been suspended from October 26, 2025, as Cyclone Montha advances toward the Andhra Pradesh coast. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has halted operations at Gandipochamma and Pochavaram points, urging travellers to defer boat trips to Papikonda hills. Around 35 boats, including APTDC-operated ones, have been anchored as a precautionary measure.

Along the Godavari coastline, fishing activities have also been suspended, with mechanised and traditional boats returning to shore in Uppada, Konaseema, and Narsapuram. Authorities in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district have readied cyclone shelters and set up 11 control rooms to assist potential evacuees.

The state administration continues to monitor the situation closely, prioritising safety as the cyclone is expected to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds across coastal Andhra Pradesh.
