The Ahmedabad-based Nirma Group is planning to enter the hospitality sector with the development of a large five-star hotel along the Sarkhej–Gandhinagar Highway in Ahmedabad. The proposed property will feature around 555 rooms and is targeted to be operational ahead of the 2030 Commonwealth Games, positioning it to tap into the rising demand for premium accommodation in the city.
According to reports, Nirma is in discussions with several leading hotel operators, including Indian Hotels Company, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, and Marriott International. While talks are ongoing, no management or branding agreement has been finalised yet. The group has reportedly applied for environmental clearance for the project, which is being planned in the upper-upscale to luxury segment.
The move comes at a time when Ahmedabad has emerged as a key hotel investment destination in western India. Over the past two years, the city has seen increased interest from hospitality players, driven by industrial growth, expanding corporate activity, and rising institutional demand. Improved infrastructure and the city’s growing profile as a business and events hub have further strengthened its appeal.
Nirma, best known for its presence in detergents, chemicals, cement, and healthcare, is expected to leverage its strong local footprint to support the project. The planned hotel is likely to add significant high-end room inventory to Ahmedabad’s hospitality market ahead of major international events.
