In a refreshing shift from seasonal closures, the Uttar Pradesh Eco-Tourism Board has announced India’s first monsoon safari in the Mohammadi range of Dudhwa National Park. While the rest of the park closes from June 15 due to rain-related challenges, this 24-kilometre trail in Lakhimpur Kheri district will remain open, inviting visitors to experience the wild in a whole new way.
Unlike traditional wildlife zones that shut down during the rainy season, the Mohammadi range will allow tourists to witness Dudhwa’s lush, rain-soaked biodiversity, featuring over 25 tigers, deer, antelopes, and more. Prakhar Mishra, Director of Tourism, shared that this new trail offers an untouched safari experience during a season rarely explored by wildlife enthusiasts.
The initiative reflects a broader shift in eco-tourism strategy—viewing monsoon as a tourism opportunity rather than a hindrance. It is expected to enhance foot traffic and open doors to year-round nature experiences in the region.
Adding to the adventure is the Vistadome train journey between Bichia and Mailani, offering panoramic views through the core areas of Dudhwa’s connected sanctuaries.
With this bold move, Dudhwa is set to become a pioneer in monsoon eco-tourism, blending conservation with innovation.
