January 12, 2026

Daily helicopter services connecting Shimla with Kullu and Reckong Peo will commence from January 14, offering a faster and more convenient travel option across Himachal Pradesh’s mountainous terrain.

The flights will be operated by Heritage Aviation under the central government’s UDAN, which focuses on improving access to remote regions. Two daily flights will operate on the Shimla–Kullu route, with fares starting at ₹3,500 per passenger. The Shimla–Reckong Peo sector will initially see one daily flight, priced at ₹4,000.

A six-seater Airbus H125 helicopter will be used for the service. Trial operations have already been completed, and the Himachal Pradesh Government has assured full operational support. Officials indicated that the new service is expected to significantly cut travel time and ease connectivity for residents and travellers alike.
