Madhya Pradesh has halted all night safaris across its tiger reserves from December 1, 2025, following a Supreme Court directive aimed at strengthening wildlife protection. The ruling, issued on November 17, orders an immediate end to night tourism to minimise disturbance to animals during their most active hours.
The state’s Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Shubhranjan Sen, has instructed Field Directors of all tiger reserves to enforce the ban. Satpura Tiger Reserve confirmed that night safaris in its buffer zones, including Pipariya, Bagda and Delakhari, will cease entirely from December 1.
Tourists who booked night safaris in advance will receive full refunds as per existing guidelines.
Until now, night safaris have operated from 6 PM in select buffer zones. With the new order, only day safaris will be permitted across the state. Officials say the decision prioritises wildlife safety, ensuring reduced human interference in nocturnal habitats and supporting long-term conservation efforts.
