Sariska National Park Welcomes Four Tiger Cubs, Signaling Conservation Success

June 4, 2025

In a heartening development for wildlife conservation, Sariska National Park in Rajasthan has welcomed the birth of four tiger cubs. The cubs were born to a six-year-old tigress, ST-19, in the Bareli-Bari area of the park’s buffer zone. This is her third litter, increasing her total number of offspring to nine and boosting the park’s overall tiger population to 49.

What makes this birth particularly significant is that it’s the first recorded instance of a tigress giving birth to four cubs in Sariska’s buffer zone. With these additions, the buffer area now hosts 11 tigers, reflecting the growing success of conservation efforts in and around the park.

Once devoid of tigers due to poaching—when the reserve lost its entire population nearly two decades ago—Sariska has made a remarkable recovery. Thanks to focused reintroduction efforts and sustained protection measures, the reserve is now a thriving habitat for big cats.

The news has generated excitement among wildlife enthusiasts and is expected to further promote eco-tourism in the region. Sariska’s tiger resurgence stands as a powerful testament to India’s ongoing commitment to protecting its wildlife heritage and restoring ecological balance.
