Saudi Low-Cost Airline flyadeal to Begin India Operations in 2026

October 31, 2025

Saudi Arabia’s low-cost carrier flyadeal is set to enter the Indian market in 2026, connecting four to five destinations from its bases in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and the soon-to-open Medina. The move marks a significant step in expanding Saudi Arabia’s aviation presence in South Asia and aligns with the Kingdom’s broader Vision 2030 strategy to diversify its economy and strengthen tourism.

Launched in 2017 as the budget arm of national carrier Saudia, flyadeal currently operates 42 Airbus A320s and has ordered 51 more, including A321neo aircraft capable of reaching India’s eastern coast. The airline’s focus will be on direct connectivity between India and Saudi Arabia, catering to labour travellers and pilgrims heading to Mecca, while also opening up routes beyond major metros.

CEO Steven Greenway emphasized the need to reduce dependence on third-country hubs like Dubai and Doha, advocating for fairer direct traffic between India and Saudi Arabia. With India becoming its third South Asian market after Pakistan and Bangladesh, flyadeal’s expansion is expected to strengthen bilateral air links and complement Saudia’s growing international network.
