Maldives to Host ITB Berlin 2027

March 9, 2026

The Maldives has been named the Official Host Country of ITB Berlin 2027, marking its return to the world’s leading travel trade show a decade after its first appearance in the role. The partnership was formalised at ITB Berlin 2026, with Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO of Visit Maldives, and Dr Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin, signing the agreement at the Maldives’ stand.

The announcement coincides with 2027 being officially designated “Visit Maldives Year”, a national tourism initiative launched by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, centred on sustainable growth, global collaboration, and positioning the islands as a premier long-haul destination. The campaign will span major travel events, roadshows, and digital outreach worldwide.

As host country, the Maldives will headline the official opening gala on 15 March 2027, followed by a full programme from 16–18 March, featuring a national stand, cultural performances, networking events, and press activities. The platform also reinforces the Maldives’ commitment to the German and European markets, while strengthening its standing across the global travel industry.
