IndiGo has announced a fuel surcharge on all new domestic and international flight bookings, effective 14 March, citing a sharp rise in Aviation Turbine Fuel prices. The additional charge applies to every sector booked and varies by distance.
For domestic travel within India, passengers will pay an extra Rs 425 per sector. Connecting flights and round trips will attract the surcharge on each leg. International routes carry higher additions: Rs 900 for West Asia, Rs 1,800 for Southeast Asia, China, and Africa, and Rs 2,300 for Europe.
For travellers flying into or out of Udaipur, the practical impact is an increase of roughly Rs 400–500 on average per booking.
IndiGo’s move follows a similar step by Air India and Air India Express, which introduced a fuel surcharge from 10 March, adding Rs 399 per ticket on domestic and SAARC region bookings.
