India has reactivated the Air Suvidha 2.0 portal, requiring all travellers arriving in the country to complete a Health Self-Declaration form before heading to immigration.
The measure follows a WHO declaration in May, classifying the Ebola outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
The form is available at the Air Suvidha Portal. Here is what travellers need to know:
- Must be submitted within 72 hours before arrival
- Requires personal details and a 14-day travel history, including transit countries
- Asks about any known exposure to Ebola-affected areas and symptoms such as fever, body aches, or bleeding
- A confirmation receipt will be sent via email and should be kept handy for immigration
Travellers who have recently passed through the DRC, Uganda, or South Sudan can expect additional health screenings at the airport. India has also issued an advisory recommending its citizens avoid non-essential travel to these countries.
The declaration is separate from the standard visa process and does not replace it. It is a health monitoring measure, not an entry requirement in the conventional sense, and applies to all inbound passengers regardless of nationality or travel origin.
