India has expanded its e-visa entry network with the addition of 11 international ports, bringing the total number of points where e-visa holders can enter the country to 88. The newly added locations include nine land ports and two airports, Bhopal and Tirupati, with the land ports spanning Attari on the India-Pakistan border, Darranga, Gede, Ghojadanga, Haridaspur, Jaigaon, Dawki, and Moreh.
The expanded network now covers 37 airports, 38 seaports, and 13 land ports. The e-visa facility, first introduced in 2014, is currently available to citizens of 172 countries across 17 travel categories, including tourist, business, medical, student, and cruise, with 95% of applications processed within 72 hours. It now accounts for 78% of all visas issued by India.
Travellers holding Pakistani passports or of Pakistani origin remain ineligible for the e-visa and must apply through an Indian mission abroad.
