Tipai by Wildlife Luxuries has introduced guided night walks at its 15-key boutique retreat near Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary in Maharashtra, offering guests a closer look at the forest’s nocturnal ecosystem. Led by naturalists, the experience explores wildlife activity that often goes unnoticed during daytime safaris.
Guests use ultraviolet torches to spot scorpions, which appear electric blue under UV light. The walks also introduce participants to nocturnal birdlife, including the Indian nightjar, whose distinctive calls can often be heard before the bird is spotted.
Owl activity forms another part of the experience, with naturalists helping guests identify signs such as calls and pellets. The walks focus on patience, listening and understanding how the forest changes after sunset.
Designed for families, nature enthusiasts and wildlife travellers, the initiative adds an after-dark dimension to the retreat’s nature-based offerings, reflecting growing interest in noctourism.
Founded by MakeMyTrip co-founder Keyur Joshi, Tipai follows a regenerative hospitality approach, with rammed-earth construction and locally sourced materials. Its wider experience programme also draws on regional food traditions, community connections and the surrounding natural landscape. The new night walks further strengthen its focus on immersive wildlife experiences around Tipeshwar.
