“Yoga for One Earth, One Health”

The final day of our Yoga Week in celebration of International Yoga Day! We close with Bhramari Pranayama, or Humming Bee Breath—an ancient technique named after the black Indian bee and rooted in classical texts like the Hatha Yoga Pradipika.

To practice, sit comfortably, place thumbs gently in your ears and fingers over closed eyes. This creates vibrations that quiet the mind, ease tension, and stimulate the pineal and pituitary glands. It also soothes nerves, relieves stress and anxiety, dissipates anger, and supports throat health while strengthening your voice.

As we celebrate International Yoga Day, we see how this 5,000-year-old practice has adapted to modern life, serving millions worldwide with stress relief, flexibility, and emotional balance. Thank you for joining our 7-day journey. Keep breathing, growing, and shining.

Today we’re combining strength and surrender with two transformative poses.

We’ll begin with Virabhadrasana or Warrior Pose, named after the fierce warrior Virabhadra from Hindu mythology. This foundational pose builds leg strength, improves balance, and cultivates mental resilience while embodying the warrior spirit. It teaches us to find stability in challenge while opening our hips and strengthening our core.

From this foundation of strength, we gracefully flow into Ustrasana or Camel Pose. This heart-opening pose stretches the entire front body, stimulates the heart chakra, and releases stored emotions while building spinal flexibility. The pose also counteracts the effects of poor posture from modern life. Together, these poses teach us that true strength comes from balancing power with openness.

Today we explore Shirsasana, known as the Headstand Pose and revered as the King of asanas in classical yoga texts.

This ancient pose has been practiced for over a thousand years and was traditionally considered so powerful that yogis would practice it for hours to achieve spiritual awakening.

The inversion offers profound benefits including improved circulation, enhanced mental clarity, and strengthened core muscles, while also stimulating the pituitary and pineal glands to promote hormonal balance. Regular practice can help alleviate stress, mild depression, and even support healthy digestion. Remember, as the king of asanas, Shirsasana demands respect, patience, and proper preparation. Always practice against a wall initially and listen to your body’s wisdom.
