Heavy rainfall has prompted authorities to shut tourist destinations across several Kerala districts, with the State Disaster Management Authority banning entry at all tourist spots in Kozhikode, Idukki, and Wayanad. Red alerts remain active across nine districts, including Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Thrissur, Malappuram, and Kannur.
In Wayanad, all trekking activities, adventure tourism centres, and homestays have been temporarily closed. Kozhikode has imposed a complete ban on eco-tourism centres and water bodies, including Kakkayam and Kariyathumpara. Tourists currently in Idukki have been advised to remain at safe accommodation and avoid unnecessary travel within the district.
Several prominent destinations have also been shut as a precaution, including Ponmudi, Athirappilly, Nelliyampathy, Palaruvi Waterfalls, and Kumbhavuran Waterfalls. Entry to Ilaveezhapoonchira, Illikkal Kallu, and Marma Waterfalls in Kottayam has been prohibited, and night travel on the Erattupetta-Vagamon route has been banned until August 4.
Travellers with plans across these regions are advised to monitor official advisories closely before proceeding.
