India’s maritime tourism was significantly boosted with the inauguration of the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal (MICT) at Ballard Pier. Flagged off by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, MICT is the nation’s largest cruise terminal, developed under the Cruise Bharat Mission. Spanning 4.15 lakh sq ft and built at an investment of ₹556 crore, the terminal is designed to accommodate 1 million passengers annually and handle up to five cruise ships simultaneously. It features 72 check-in and immigration counters, parking for over 300 vehicles, and blends Mumbai’s maritime heritage with modern design elements. This development positions Mumbai as a key player in global cruise tourism.
