The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has given a recently acquired Coorg property a new identity, launching it as The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary. Spread across 76 acres of ancient forest and coffee plantations in the Western Ghats, the retreat joins the brand’s growing collection of nature-led destinations as it marks four decades of operations.
The IGBC Platinum-certified property sits within one of Coorg’s oldest coffee estates, its contemporary architecture shaped by local craftsmanship and Kodava heritage. Seventy-one villas span duplex, family, and private pool configurations, with the four-bedroom Sunbeam Presidential Villa offering a forest-facing retreat at the highest end.
Outdoor experiences include guided forest walks, plantation trails, birdwatching, waterfall explorations, cycling, and stargazing. Four dining venues serve guests alongside the Estate to Brew experience, which traces Coorg’s coffee heritage through estate walks and curated tastings.
A seven-acre lake, private helipad, and a 27,000 square foot wellness centre under Aujasya by The Leela, offering personalised therapies, yoga, and mindfulness programmes, round out the amenities. The property’s setting and scale position it as one of The Leela’s most immersive leisure addresses to date.
