Visakhapatnam Just Got Its First International Cruise

May 4, 2026

Visakhapatnam is stepping onto the global cruise stage. Starting July 15, Cordelia Cruises will launch the city’s first-ever international sailing from its international terminal, opening a new chapter for cruise tourism along India’s eastern coast.

The 14-day voyage charts an impressive course: from Visakhapatnam, the ship heads to Chennai for a two-day stop before venturing into international waters, calling at Phuket, Langkawi, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore. It’s a seamless blend of onboard luxury and onshore discovery across some of Southeast Asia’s most celebrated destinations.

What makes this particularly appealing for Indian travellers is the ease of access. No visa is required for Thailand or Malaysia, Singapore offers visa on arrival, and all you need is a passport valid for at least six months. Tourism leaders expect the service to make international cruising significantly more accessible across the region.

For years, global cruise departures from India have been largely confined to Mumbai. Visakhapatnam’s entry changes that, giving travellers from eastern and southern India a far more convenient gateway to the world by sea.
