Air India Scales Back International Routes Through August 2026

May 15, 2026

Air India has announced a rationalisation of its international network between June and August 2026, citing record-high jet fuel prices and continued airspace restrictions over certain regions. The airline has firmly denied circulating claims that all international flights have been cancelled, calling them false and baseless.

Despite the reductions, Air India will continue operating over 1,200 international flights monthly across five continents. North America sees the most significant changes, with the Delhi-Chicago route temporarily suspended, Delhi-Toronto halved through July, and Delhi-San Francisco reduced. Several European routes, including Paris, Milan, and Rome, will operate at lower frequencies, as will services to Australia, Singapore, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur.

Some routes face full suspension through August, including Delhi-Shanghai, Chennai-Singapore, Mumbai-Dhaka, and Delhi-Malé. On the other hand, Mumbai-Newark will increase from three to seven weekly flights, and Delhi-New York via JFK remains unchanged at seven weekly services.

Passengers affected by cancellations will be offered rebooking on alternative Air India flights, free date changes, or full refunds. The airline has indicated further adjustments remain possible if current operating conditions persist.
