IndiGo is set to soar into the long-haul aviation sector with its first-ever direct flights to Europe and the UK starting July 1, 2025. The airline will launch thrice-weekly non-stop flights from Mumbai to Manchester, followed by services to Amsterdam from July 2. This milestone makes IndiGo the first Indian low-cost carrier to operate long-haul international flights to these destinations.
These flights will be operated using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, which are being wet-leased from Norse Atlantic Airways. This move not only boosts connectivity between India and Europe but also marks a significant shift in IndiGo’s service offerings.
In a first for the airline, IndiGo will begin serving hot meals onboard—an upgrade from their usual buy-on-board snacks. This enhancement is aimed at elevating passenger comfort and meeting the expectations of long-haul travelers.
Mumbai has been chosen as the hub for these new flights due to ongoing restrictions on airspace over Pakistan, which would make Delhi departures less feasible.
With this new venture, IndiGo is set to reshape the budget travel experience, providing affordable, direct, and comfortable options for travelers heading to Europe. The airline’s expansion signals a new chapter in Indian aviation, blending cost-effectiveness with enhanced service quality.
