Jodhpur’s long-awaited new airport terminal, in the works for over three and a half decades, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 4. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat confirmed the terminal is ready for public use, with final technical approvals expected to be completed within days.
Shekhawat described the airport as a key hub for air connectivity across western Rajasthan, noting that growing passenger demand had placed considerable strain on the existing terminal and made a modern facility necessary. From July 4, he said, residents of Jodhpur and the wider region can expect a significantly improved travel experience, alongside an anticipated boost to tourism, trade, and investment.
The terminal inauguration forms part of a broader set of engagements for the Prime Minister in Rajasthan that day. Modi is also set to inaugurate the Pachpadra Refinery in Barmer, originally scheduled for April but postponed following a fire at the facility, and lay the foundation stone for the Rs 13,000 crore Jaipur Metro Phase-2 project.
Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has held preparatory meetings with officials to coordinate the day’s events, which will also include a ceremony distributing appointment letters to newly selected government job recruits.
