IndiGo to Launch Non-Stop Delhi and Mumbai–Athens Flights with India’s First A321XLR

January 27, 2026

IndiGo has announced the launch of direct flights from Mumbai and Delhi to Athens, marking a significant milestone in India–Europe air connectivity. Services from Mumbai will begin on January 23, 2026, followed by Delhi on January 24, operating three times a week. These routes will be operated using India’s first Airbus A321XLR, making IndiGo the only Indian carrier to offer non-stop flights to Greece.

The move reflects IndiGo’s broader strategy to expand deeper into Europe using long-range narrow-body aircraft. Airline leadership indicated that Athens is emerging as an important destination for Indian leisure, MICE and wedding travel, alongside growing business and cultural exchanges. The direct connection is expected to support tourism as well as bilateral trade between the two countries.

The A321XLR enables non-stop operations to Southern Europe while maintaining cost efficiency. The aircraft will feature a premium IndiGoStretch cabin and an all-economy layout, with onboard meals and enhanced passenger comfort. The launch underscores IndiGo’s ambition to strengthen its international footprint through efficient, long-haul connectivity.
