The Barefoot Eco Hotel Updates Green Tax

February 9, 2026

The Barefoot Eco Hotel has announced a revision to its Green Tax, effective 1 March 2026, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and competitive travel in the Maldives.

From this date, the Green Tax will be USD 6 per person per day, reduced from the previous USD 12, and will apply to all new bookings made on or after 1 March 2026. Guests with existing reservations for which proforma invoices have already been issued are advised that adjustments can be arranged upon request.

The revised rate is designed to enhance the resort’s appeal, particularly during the low season from 1 April to 31 October, while continuing to support eco-conscious operations. This update positions the eco hotel as a more accessible choice for responsible travellers seeking sustainable Maldives accommodation.
