September 10, 2026

Varanasi is preparing for a spectacular three-day Indian Air Force air show over the Ganga, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to attend the final day. The event will take place on October 22, 23 and 25, marking the foundation day of the Indian Air Force.

The aerial display will stretch between Namo Ghat and Assi Ghat, with more than 100 aircraft, including fighter jets and helicopters, expected to participate. Aircraft will arrive from locations including Lucknow, Ghaziabad and Prayagraj, as well as parts of Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh.

The show will run for around 90 minutes each day, from noon to 2 pm, with several aircraft performing simultaneously over the river.

For safety and crowd management, boat operations on the Ganga will remain suspended during the show. The Rajghat Ganga Bridge will also be closed to traffic. Namo Ghat will be handed over to the Air Force from October 16, with public access restricted from that date. Authorities are preparing for a large turnout, with crowds potentially reaching 1.5 to 2.5 lakh visitors.
