The Tamara Marina Alleppey is set to open in December 2026 on Kerala’s Vembanad Lake, bringing a distinctive luxury stay experience to the region’s backwaters. The resort will feature 24 floating boat villas within a private lagoon, alongside 10 suites located along the shore.
Inspired by Kerala’s lotus-filled waterways and traditional architecture, the property will incorporate locally associated materials such as bamboo, laterite, mud and lime. Traditional latticework and domed structures will further shape its design.
The boat villas will operate on battery power, offering a zero-emission way to explore the lagoon while taking in views of the water and surrounding lotus beds.
Local culture will play an important role in the guest experience. Dining will draw on regional food traditions, with ingredients sourced locally, including fresh catches from nearby fishing communities. Guests will also have opportunities to discover traditional crafts, including coir-making, and engage with the livelihoods and customs of communities around the lake.
The resort plans to work closely with local artisans, weavers and fishing communities, bringing together sustainable operations, regional craftsmanship and community-led experiences. Its opening will add a distinctive offering to Kerala’s backwater tourism landscape.
