Navi Mumbai International Airport to Begin Operations on December 25, 2025

November 21, 2025

Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI) is set to open for operations on December 25, 2025, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation expansion. Inaugurated in October, the new airport will welcome its first commercial flights next week, with IndiGo and Akasa Air serving as launch operators on the inaugural Delhi–Navi Mumbai sector.

Akasa has already opened bookings for its NMI services, with the first scheduled flight, QP 1831 from Delhi, is set to depart at 5:25 AM on opening day. The airline will connect NMI with Delhi, Goa Mopa, Cochin, and Ahmedabad, offering daily or near-daily frequencies depending on the route. Tickets are now available on Akasa’s website and app.

IndiGo has also begun listing NMI flights on its booking channels, including services to Delhi and Ahmedabad. A formal announcement is expected shortly.

The Air India group has signalled major plans for the new airport as well. Air India Express is preparing to launch 20 daily departures in the initial phase, linking NMI with 15 Indian cities and positioning the airport as a significant new domestic hub.

With both IndiGo and Akasa starting operations on December 25, NMI will officially open its runways to passengers, with a broader network rollout expected through 2026.
