The Indian Hotels Company has opened Gateway Kandla in Gandhidham, Gujarat, bringing one of India’s most recognised hospitality brands to a city better known for commerce than leisure travel.
Spread across 17 acres near the Kandla port, the property offers 93 rooms alongside a pool, spa, fitness centre, and a range of indoor and outdoor event spaces. The interiors draw on regional design influences, grounding the hotel in its Gujarat context rather than offering the generic polish common to business hotels of this type.
Dining is anchored by Urban Masala, an all-day restaurant serving local specialities alongside global dishes.
The location is deliberate. Gandhidham sits at the centre of one of India’s busiest maritime trade corridors, and the hotel is clearly positioned to serve the executives, logistics professionals, and government officials who move through the region regularly. At the same time, proximity to the Rann of Kutch, Vijay Vilas Palace, and Mandvi Beach gives leisure travellers a credible reason to base themselves here. For Gateway, it is a foothold in a part of Gujarat that branded hospitality has largely overlooked.
