InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort Reopens After Transformation

June 2, 2026

InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort has relaunched following a multi-million-dollar overhaul, emerging as a significantly expanded coastal property on the Coromandel Coast. The reimagined resort introduces new luxury suites with plunge pools, additional restaurants and bars, a sports pavilion, scenic walking trails, and a meditation garden.

At the heart of the events offering is the Vaibhava Ballroom, a sea-facing venue spanning over 12,000 square feet, complemented by 70,000 square feet of beach and garden lawns capable of accommodating more than 5,000 guests. The scale positions the resort firmly within the destination wedding and large-format celebration market.

Dining has been expanded across several concepts. The Melting Pot brings together Indian, Western, and Pan-Asian cuisines across three open kitchens, while The Tides Bar transitions from sunset drinks to evening dining. The Gatsby Lounge offers a more relaxed setting with handcrafted cocktails, live sports screenings, and an alfresco area for private gatherings.

Wellness is woven throughout the property, with Amrtam Spa, a herbal garden and juice bar, beachside yoga, sunrise meditation, and nature trails offering a range of restorative options. Active guests are catered to through a sports pavilion, pickleball court, and an ATV trail, while younger visitors have dedicated spaces including Planet Trekkers and the Secret Garden.
