January 15, 2026

The Taj Mahal will offer free public entry for three days from January 15 to 17, marking the 371st Urs of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. As part of the annual observance, visitors will also be granted rare access to the graves of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, located in the monument’s lower chamber.

According to officials from the Archaeological Survey of India, this viewing is permitted only once a year and coincides with the religious commemorations held during the Islamic month of Rajab. The schedule allows free entry from 2 pm until sunset on January 15 and 16, while on January 17, the monument will remain open from sunrise to sunset.

The order has been issued by the Agra Circle of the ASI. Authorities also reiterated that the Taj Mahal will remain closed on Friday, in line with its weekly closure policy.
