Uttar Pradesh Extends Tiger Safari Season By 15 Days

June 15, 2026

Uttar Pradesh has extended the tourist season at its tiger reserves until June 30, pushing back the usual closure date of June 15 due to a delayed monsoon. The extension brings the total season to eight months, having opened earlier than usual on November 1, 2025.

Dudhwa, Pilibhit, Amangarh, and Ranipur Tiger Reserves will all remain open through the extended period, with safari operations and visitor facilities continuing as normal. Officials said the decision followed a review of current weather conditions, which were assessed as favourable for safe tourism activity over the next two weeks.

Dudhwa Tiger Reserve has already drawn over 80,000 visitors this season, with authorities expecting another 10,000 to 15,000 before the end of June. Pilibhit, known for its birdwatching and wildlife photography opportunities, will also benefit from the additional days.

Forest officials noted that the extension remains weather-dependent, and safari operations could be curtailed if heavy rainfall arrives earlier than anticipated.
